Gable Events was chosen by O2 to organise a dragon boat event with hospitality and catering for the England Rugby team and some of O2’s top clients. The dragon boat racing took place at an exclusive venue on the River Thames in London and involved the entire England Rugby first team squad. Led by team manager, Martin Johnson, the group keen to take advantage of dragon boat racing’s renowned team building benefits included Jonny Wilkinson, Lewis Moody, Toby Flood, Josh Lewsey, Harry Ellis, Matthew Tait, Danny Care, Steve Borthwick, Simon Shaw, Shane Geraghty, Jamie Noon, Riki Flutey, Paul Sackey and Andrew Sheridan.

Some of the players were initially reticent about leaving dry land but after some gentle encouragement and skilled instruction from the Gable Events helms and their opponents for the day, the Great Britain ladies dragon boat team, they were ready to race the dragon! Due to their highly competitive nature and a slight lack of coordination, the team did experience a capsize but this did not phase them as they were quickly out of the water and on the bank, ready to race again! The day was great fun with all the team getting into the spirit despite their strength not being enough to overcome the superior technique and timing demonstrated by the experienced GB ladies.

A Great Success!
A fabulous day was had by all, O2 were delighted with the way the event went and it was certainly a highlight of the summer season for many of the Gable Events staff, both male and female!
