Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!

The Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenges take place in Salford Quays, Manchester (fifth year) on Wednesday 9th June, Cardiff Bay (second year) on Thursday 24th June, West Reservoir, London, (twelfth year) on Thursday 1st July and Manvers Lake, Rotherham (new for 2010!) on Thursday 8th July.

Starting early afternoon, up to 40 crews are expected to battle it out over the 250m race course at each location, aiming to become top crews in the industry and watched by several hundred spectators.

Entering a team into one of the Challenges offers the perfect opportunity to try something completely different, motivate staff and build morale, entertain clients and suppliers, increase profile and raise much needed funds for CRASH. Hundreds of construction industry companies have already discovered the sport’s motivational and team building benefits and raised nearly £200,000 for CRASH – so why not be part of it!

The chosen venues offer superb locations for racing and fabulous events are guaranteed with bankside entertainment, hospitality and fun activities.

Due to the way CRASH’s core funding is covered by its generous Patron companies, all the donations received from our fundraising events, including the Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge, go directly to projects that help individuals damaged by the experience of homelessness.
