Dragon Boat Racing and the Challenge
Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!

Gable Events has joined with ‘Building’ magazine and the charity CRASH to bring you the tenth Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge to be staged in London and the third in Manchester, following its tremendous success last year. Starting early afternoon, up to 40 crews are expected to battle it out over the 250m race course at each venue, aiming to become the top crews in the industry and watched by several hundred spectators. The venues at Salford Quays, Manchester and West Reservoir, London N4 offer a superb location for racing and a fabulous event is guaranteed with bankside entertainment, hospitality and fun activities.

CRASH
CRASH, the construction and property industries’ charity for the homeless, is the beneficiary of funds raised at this annual building industry event. CRASH harnesses the skills, products, talents and goodwill of the industry to improve the buildings and premises for voluntary agencies working with homeless people, throughout the UK.

Since the Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge began nine years ago, over £100,000 has been raised for CRASH. Every penny of this money has gone to help homelessness projects around the country. CRASH promises to do the same this year and use the funds to help change the lives of some very vulnerable and socially excluded individuals in our society today.
